Anchoring Systems

When purchasing a dock, choosing the ideal anchoring system for a specific area is one of the most important aspects and can have a direct impact on the longevity of any floating dock. The most common anchoring systems available are as follows:

Cable and Winch Anchoring

Cable and Winch System with Swivel Pivot Adapter
With this system, the boat docks main anchoring components are the ramp/walkway which acts as a stiff arm holding the dock in place and the swivel pivot adapter which gives the dock the ability to pivot left or right and up and down if needed eliminating stress to other components. Side cables located on each shore end corner of the dock keeps side to side motion limited. Winches are provided for cable adjustment. Excellent anchoring system for extreme water level fluctuation without the need to move the dock from one location to another.

Cable and Winch System with Wheel-Jacks and T-Stake
Identical to the cable and winch system described above with the exception of wheel-jacks and a t-stake, which are used in place of the swivel pivot. Ideal in areas where ramp/walkway lengths are restricted yet due to seasonal water level fluctuation, it provides the means necessary to move the dock and keep it floating.

Underwater Anchors (Optional feature for cable and winch anchoring)
This system provides added security and reduces dock movement in open water areas with heavy winds and high waves by allowing the load distribution to be transferred to multiple points on the floating dock. It is most often used in combination with the cable and winch options that include either the swivel pivot adapter or the wheel jack system. Weights are included for self adjusting during seasonal water level fluctuations.

Pole and Sleeve Anchoring

Pole and Sleeve *Pile driver not required
Using a solid length pole through a 4’ up to an 8’ aluminum sleeve provides excellent hold in rough water conditions. The longer the sleeve, the more restricted side to side movement of the pole. Optional feature: Adding a winch and cable to the sleeves allows for moving the dock during seasonal water level fluctuations. For best results a maximum water depth of 12'-15'. Piling hoops with rollers may be substituted for sleeves where pile driving is required.

Stiff Arm/Outrigger and Stand-offs

Stiff Arm/Outrigger
Anchors the dock a set distance from shore. Ideal for the narrow lake lots eliminating the extra space needed for cables. It is also a viable option where water depth exceeds the maximum depth for anchor pole and sleeve system. Commonly used on river channels and navigable water ways, the outrigger/stiff arm provides added stability against moderate directional water flow.

Stand-offs
An alternative anchoring system which includes dual arms with a cable and winch package. Ideal for areas where it is necessary to move the dock during water level fluctuations.
